Female Genital Mutilation in the USA? for real?!!

Lately I have found it a little hard to dedicate time and effort toward writing this blog in the manner that it should deserve. With some of my other activities such as finding a new job, switching my diet to be more vegan (solely for health reasons), and becoming a social media manager for the local republican organization has really taken a lot of time of my time. Last week, I saw an article on CNN.com that I felt the need to write…

Key facts

  • Female genital mutilation (FGM) includes procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.
  • The procedure has no health benefits for girls and women.
  • Procedures can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths.
  • More than 200 million girls and women alive today have been cut in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia where FGM is concentrated.
  • FGM is mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age 15.
  • FGM is a violation of the human rights of girls and women.

Something that I have always found disturbing was how it was totally permissible to perform clitoris alteration.  I am being very kind in the terminology that I am using because it is mutilation.  Men, in some shape or form always want to control a female’s sexuality or her ability to be sexual.  From antiquity female control moved from being beaten and locked up to altering her mental/physical form so that she will be docile and submissive to any and all males she may come in contact with over her life span.   The female was supposed to be subservient to all males to ensure the right order of command does not become obstructed with innovative thinking. The female is not allowed to feel physical pleasure because she is solely a female. Perhaps sub conscientiously men know women may be powerful and start to control them.  Who knows. I am sure there are other explanations for this horrible act.

It is an unorthodox assumption that females will become hyper insatiable and will run around with multitudes of sex partners as they age from a toddler.   This is a prevailing theme in western cultures as well as in eastern cultures.  It does exist in various levels all over the world.  I remember as a college student how men at the club would ask me not to chat with other men because they wanted me for themselves.  They would even go further and ask me to be sexually loyal to them when they were actively seeking companionship in addition to me.   There are songs about women and their eroding loyalty to men. Very few songs criminalizing the hyper sexuality of men.  I have now learned control over female sexuality was more about insecurity and immaturity than a female being a “dirty woman” or an “expendable woman.”

In an effort to stop females from becoming a dirty woman, some cultures developed gentile physical and mental alteration as a means to control the female population. I have never understood how performing this this type of procedure was acceptable in other cultures.  I see it as another way men try to dominate and keep females not just submissive but complete devoid of being human and subjugated.  It is not enough that women are not and will never be as physically strong as a man but to dehumanize them into being less than object is completely unacceptable.  Yet this happens.

Based on years of warped cultural brainwashing, women of these various cultures have become the enforcer of gentile alteration.  This is done in an effort to make their daughters more applicable for a man purpose.  perhaps to even “purify” their daughters as if to suggest how they were born was not good enough.  This is gross miscarriage of justice when this procedure is performed on young girls.  I totally object to this practice being done in other parts of the world let alone here in the USA.  As immigrants take causal assimilation into our American culture they do not totally adhere to all of our laws or customs.  It is frightening to me that immigrants will come to the USA and continue the practice of gentile mutilation in an alarming effort to keep this barbaric tradition alive.   I have to agree with Donald Trump when he stated immigrants need to assimilate or get out.  There isn’t a better example of this than in Michigan where a female doctor is being charged with such a crime.  Dr. Jumana Nagarwala, 44, of Northville, Michigan has been charged with performing female genital mutilation on two seven-year-old girls from Minnesota.  This could have been a life saving moment in saving the lives of the 2 little girls and report the parents to a child protection agency.  This doctor and others like her saw this moment as a time to continue the barbaric tradition because it is a custom in their home land that has no religious base.  This hurts me to no end that females are being betrayed by their parents and a medical doctor who thought it was more important to carry this tradition than to assimilate to the American culture.  I ask myself did this female doctor see the women’s march on Washington, D.C and around the world?  Did she feel empowered?  Did she feel she could effect change in her own culture or was this just the whining of women that should be controlled?  I have made my feelings known about the Women’s marches but I feel extremely lucky to be in a country where these types of gatherings can be done by women without being opposed and harmed.  Sure there are some traditions around the world that would be wonderful to learn and pass down from generation to generation.  This is not one of them.

I would hope this female is sounded convicted of her crimes against these 2 young children.  I hope she is deported and has all of her doctor privileges and licenses stripped from her.  I also hope the 2 young children are permanently removed from their respective homes and are able to receive proper medical treatment for their injuries.
